Independent Senator Mr. James Jardine is as a Chartered Accountant; whom has had a prestigious career as a Partner and Chief Executive Officer, for the international law firm Appleby.
Mr. Jardine has been educated in Bermuda, Scotland and Canada. Mr. Jardine graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Dalhousie University in Halifax Canada and obtained his Chartered Accountant designation in 1975.
In 1978 Mr. Jardine returned to Bermuda. In 1982 he became a partner at Ernst & Young. He also became a Fellow of the Institute of Charted Secretaries and Administrators in 1991. In 1992, Mr. Jardine became the Vice President and Treasurer of The Supermart Group and joined Appleby, Spurling & Kempe (now known as Appleby). Mr. Jardine sequentially advanced at the firm Appleby, Spurling & Kempe to Partner and CEO in 1996 until his retirement in 2011. Additionally, he was appointed as a Justice of the Peace in 1997.
Mr. Jardine has also served on various Boards in Bermuda. He has served as Alderman and Common Councilor on the Corporation of Hamilton for 18 years. He also served on the Marine and Ports Board for 13 years, the Bermuda Library Board of Trustees for 9 years, the Board of Governors for the Bermuda College for 5 years, the Insurance Advisory Committee, the Salvation Army Board for 4 years. Mr. Jardine also has served as Vice Chairman on the Committee for the Restoration of the Bermuda Cathedral for 3 years, the Bermuda Church Society as Treasurer for 15 years and as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Summerhaven Trust for 8 years.
