Mr. Clark Somner


Mr. Clark Somner is a long-time civil servant, having first joined the Legislature Department in 1987 as a Supernumerary Assistant Clerk. He has served in various capacities, including Assistant Clerk to the Legislature and Senior Assistant Clerk (later Deputy Clerk), and now Clerk to the Legislature. He has also had many years of experience as Secretary to both the Public Accounts Committee and the Parliamentary Committee on the Office of the Auditor General.

Mr. Somner holds a Bachelors degree in Commerce from St. Mary’s University in Nova Scotia, Canada and worked several years in Bermuda’s private banking sector before earning a degree and prior to joining the Bermuda Government. 

Mr. Somner has enjoyed a Secondment to the UK Houses of Parliament in 2001 and has completed an ILEX Certificate in Vocational Paralegal Studies, among other work related courses at the Bermuda College and in DHR Training and Development.

Mr. Somner has participated in numerous Commonwealth Parliamentary Association conferences and seminars in Bermuda, the Caribbean Region and elsewhere overseas, including international Parliamentary Clerks conferences in Nigeria, Canada and Kenya.
