Speeches

Speeches in the House of Assembly normally entail speeches from the Government of the day and the Opposition. There are two major speeches within a legislative year. The first speech is proclaimed during the 'Convening of Parliament', this speech is made by the Governor at the Cabinet grounds, it is known as the 'Throne Speech'. When parliament re-convenes this is know as the first meeting of parliament. On the next day of meeting the Opposition Leader will give his/her reply to the throne speech, which entails a full rebuttal to the throne speech.

The other monumental speech is presented by the Minister of Finance, titled the 'Budget Speech'. The budget speech outlines the allocated funds for each Government department, which is proclaimed during the Budget Debate in February. The Opposition members responsible for finance will reply to the Government's Budget Speech on the next day of meeting.
