Marcus
Jones is husband to his wife Sophia and father to his son, Caleb and daughter,
Abigail. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics at Trent
University in Ontario, Canada as well as completed a number of Hospitality
Management diplomas at the Bermuda College to prepare himself to work within
the hotel business. His professional career consists of 30 years in the
hospitality industry, working in virtually every job within the hotel from
waiter and houseman to Director of Finance and General Manager. The highlights
of this work experience include being the head of finance of the Novotel
Toronto Centre in Toronto and opening three small-size hotels on the island as
General Manager.
Public
Service has been part of his DNA for quite some time. From his late teens
serving as youth director in his local church, mentoring his generation to
spiritual awareness, PTA president at his alma mater, West End Primary,
parenting in the foster care program and co-founding a neighbourhood watch
group are just a sample of his community service. Most recently he submitted
himself to be a candidate for the One Bermuda Alliance Party as a
representative of Pembroke West in the February 2025 General Election. He
believes that our government needs servant leadership, dedicated men and women
of integrity that are willing to make a positive impact. Continuing education
and self-development have been a recurring theme in his adult life and his goal
is to be a life-long learner.
