Mr. Robert King grew up in the UK, Antigua, Barbados before arriving here with his parents, a Bermudian father and a Jamaican mother and his older sister. He attended Laurentian University in Ontario Canada graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Law and Justice. He then worked in Correctional Services (Canada) in a young offender closed custody facility as a correctional officer and upon his return to Bermuda in 1996 worked as an officer in both the young offender and adult facilities. He left Corrections as a Caseworker in 2001 and joined the Department of Court Services (formerly Probation Services) where he was responsible for the assessment and treatment of moderate and high risk offenders. During his tenure at the Department he was instrumental in the development and implementation of the electronic monitoring program.
After more than 30 years of service, he answered the call to politics and is the successor to the former Premier the Honorable Michael Dunkley MP JP when he won the by-election for Constituency 10.
Robert King is a man of service and is committed to safeguarding the community and creating opportunities for success in particular for at risk youth and adults. Mr. King is also a certified SCARS trainer and is Deputy Chairperson of the Committee of 25. He is married and both he and his wife are community oriented and committed.
