Ms. Bell was appointed to the Senate after a distinguished career as a barrister and attorney in Bermuda. She is the former managing partner of a leading global offshore law firm, past President of the Bermuda Bar Council, and has served in a variety of judicial and quasi-judicial roles including as Chairman of the Bermuda Immigration Appeals Tribunal and as an Assistant Justice of the Supreme Court of Bermuda.  She has over 25 years corporate governance experience, advising or serving on the Board of Directors of commercial and non-profit entities, including commercial banking and re-insurance entities, the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce, and the Bermuda Business Development Agency.  Ms. Bell has been involved in non-profits, philanthropy and social investing focused on the environment, social injustice, and diversity for over thirty years.
